Over the last week I’ve seen direct evidence of the vision of St Michael Le Belfrey being fulfilled. As we aim to play our part in ‘serving God’s transformation of the North’ I have watched many Belfrey people serving tirelessly and whole-heartedly at the New Wine Summer Conference in Newark, and it has warmed my heart.

This is Romans 12:11 in action: ‘Keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord.
Some have served on teams, such as administration, maintenance, media, prayer ministry, early morning child care, children’s work, special needs and catering. Others have taught seminars and spoken. Still others, like many of the leaders of G2, have run a whole venue – Burn – which went fantastically and was brilliantly led by Luke Smith.

As Vicar of this great Belfrey community I feel so proud of you all for serving so well! I know at times it’s been hard work. And I appreciate that sometimes you probably wondered what you could be doing with your time if you weren’t serving. But you didn’t give up and you wentbthe extra mile and I know that you have made a difference in the lives of many. I know that together we have played a part in serving God’s transformation of the North this week, by serving at New Wine.

So thank you and well done. Good job, Belfrey servants!
