9th December: It’s busy at Christmas. To not miss out on the wonder of the season, we need to slow down and simplify. Mary knew this, as she cared for baby Jesus and gave time for ‘pondering’. It takes intentionality to ponder at Advent, but the benefits are immense. So make the decision – and have a simple Advent.
Take time out, intentionally simplify your life in Advent. What wonderful wisdom, thank you. I like to think that when we do this we are slowly but surely making a present for others at Christmas. That present is none other than our very selves. More rested and refreshed than we otherwise might be we can say to people caught up in the fraught, frenetic, exhaustion of Christmas, can I help, put your feet up, be at peace, I am here to serve you. For the inspiration behind the present of giving ourselves to each other we need look no further than the crib.
